Baltic Adventure Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Vilnius!
On your arrival at Vilnius airport a driver will wait for you in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name on it and will drive you to your accommodation. The journey takes about 20 minutes.
If you arrive in Vilnius early, you can immediately start exploring its charming Old Town, admire the stunning baroque architecture, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of this historic city. If you’d like to add any additional tours or activities to your Active Baltic Adventure package, please let us know.
Day 2: Vilnius City Tour, Trakai SUP Tour
Discover the old and new sides of Vilnius with a local guide. Vilnius is a charming city full of history, culture, art, quirky neighbourhoods and cool and happening bars and restaurants. The UNESCO listed Old Town is one of the world’s largest surviving medieval old towns, full of Baroque, Gothic, Neoclassical, and Renaissance architecture. Wander around the UNESCO recognised Old Town, filled with magnificent landmarks and have the chance to really get in touch with the vibrant culture of Vilnius. Have the local craft beer at our favourite cafe, try some Lithuanian specialities and fall in love with this fascinating city. This is a perfect introduction tour to get to know a new city and its history and culture.
In the afternoon it’s time for stand up paddle board (SUP) tour in Trakai. In this once a capital of Lithuania you can find a magical castle, built on an island, famous for its Gothic architecture and breathtaking location. The SUP tour is perfect option as there are less boats and tourists around there during the evenings so it feels like all the whole place is completely yours. The view of the historic structure under the stars and the moon is straight out of a fairy tale. Your guide will tell you some stories and legends about the castle while paddling around the castle island.
Day 3: Vilnius to Aukštaitija Private Transfer, Fatbike Tour
Today it’s time to travel to Aukštaitija region and discover the beautiful Lithuanian nature. Your driver will pick you up from your accommodation and take you to the tour starting place. During the fatbiking tour you get to explore the hidden forest area and test your limits on a fat bike. Feel the edge, speed and action while riding through swamps, bogs and forest pathways on this 4-hour tour in Aukštaitija region. Please note that riding fat bikes is physically more demanding than on a regular bike but it let’s you explore the areas otherwise inaccessible. This tour aims to have a positive impact on the local nature, economy, ecology and is beneficial for the locals, making it a true regenerative travel experience.
Day 4: Aukštaitija to Riga Private Transfer
It’s time to change one Baltic state to another and travel to Latvia. Your driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Aukštaitija and take you to Riga. If you wish to make additional stops in the Aukštaitija Region, please let us know. Extra stops can be arranged for an additional fee and added to your Active Baltic Adventure package. The duration of the drive is about 4 hours.
Day 5: Riga City Tour, Jurmala Bike Tour
Get ready to explore this vibrant UNESCO listed old town with a local guide. You can find churches from the city’s origins, medieval buildings, unique examples of Art Nouveau, as well as centuries old wooden architecture and modern architectural there. Walk through the winding streets and cobbled alleys of the Old Town and discover the hidden past from 1201 all the way to the present day. This will be the perfect introduction to Riga and its people. Continue the tour to the famous Riga Central Market which is one of Europe’s largest markets covering 72 000m2, built from five zeppelin hangers left over from the First World War. After the tour you will have a chance to stay at the market to explore it more and to have lunch there (not included).
In the afternoon it’s time to bike to Jurmala. Easily reached from Riga, this beach resort town is popular amongst locals and foreigners alike. Your tours starts from Riga and follows the bike path to Jurmala seaside. Along the way you can see Riga’s suburbs with beautiful wooden houses and Soviet era flats, and fields and forests separating the capital from the coastline. Once in Jurmala you get to explore the beautiful wooden architecture and tree-lined streets, relax and swim on the beach and if you wish, grab some food from the cafes in the centre before heading back to Riga. If you don’t feel like cycling back to Riga, it’s also possible to take the train. The duration of the tour is about 5 hours.
Day 6: Riga to Sigulda Transfer, Gauja Hiking Tour
Today you’re travelling to Gauja National Park, also known as the Little Switzerland of Latvia. Your driver will pick you up from your accommodation and take you to Sigulda where your tour starts. This hiking tour, along Gauja river, is 17km long and offers scenic views in every corner. Admire the impressive sandstone outcrops and the Gutamn Cave, ancient historical sites and primeval Gauja river valley. This hike is relatively easy with a few steep climbs. The duration of the tour is about 6 hours.
Day 7: Gauja to Tartu Private Transfer
Today you will leave Latvia behind and travel to Estonia, and its university capital Tartu. You driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Gauja and take you to Tartu. If you wish to make additional stops in Gauja National Park, please let us know. Extra stops can be arranged for an additional fee and added to your Active Baltic Adventure package. The duration of the drive is about 3 hours.
Day 8: Canoe Tour at Emajoe-Suursoo, Transfer to Tallinn
Today you will leave Tartu behind and travel to the capital of Estonia, Tallinn. Before heading up north towards Tallinn, you will make a stop at Emajoe-Suursoo for some canoeing. You driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Tartu and take you to Emajoe-Suursoo, a unique wetland and bog area. Canoes are excellent ways to discover these otherwise inaccessible rivers and lakes in the wetland. This is truly a inuque exprience taking you off the beaten path places to enjoy the quite and calm nature, to unwind and take a moment to enjoy the little things in life.
Day 9: Tallinn City Tour, Bogshoe Hiking Tour
Enjoy a fun and history-packed walking tour of Tallinn Old Town with a knowledgeable local guide. This beautiful capital is a lively yet peaceful, photogenic and charming city full of wonderful sights and rich culture. A city that combines the modern world with ancient churches, medieval streetscapes and noble merchants’ houses. The UNESCO listed Old Town is one of the best preserved Hanseatic town centres in the world. You will cover all the most important sights of this medieval city from the bustling main streets to less known side alleys. Discover beautiful old churches, unique merchant houses, historic town hall, and imposing city defences.
In the afternoon it’s time for the bogshoeing tour. Leave the city hustle and bustle behind and get active during a bog shoe hike. The bogs are places very dear to all Estonians and have been part of our culture for centuries. Therefore one mustn’t leave Estonia before visiting a bog. The bog-shoe hiking in a bog takes you to places what otherwise would be inaccessible. We hike around the bog pools, admire the wildlife, climb the watch-tower and listen to mysterious stories and legends our tour guides tell about the bogs.
Day 10: Farewell!
Time to say goodbye and end our Active Baltic Adventure. Your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Tallinn airport for your departing flight.
