Highlights

Sweden Winter Tour Itinerary

Stockholm-city-winterOn your arrival at Stockholm airport a driver will wait for you in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name on it and will drive you to your accommodation. The journey takes about 40 minutes.

If you arrive in Stockholm early, you can dive straight into the city’s unique mix of royal history and modern Scandinavian style. Take a stroll through the cobblestone streets of Gamla Stan (the Old Town), admire the Royal Palace, and visit the impressive Stockholm Cathedral to set the tone for your adventure. If you’d like to add any additional tours or activities to your Sweden vacation package, just let us know.

Stockholm-city-tourWander through the cobblestone streets of Gamla stan, Stockholm’s most legendary neighborhood, and experience the city as it was in the Middle Ages. This historic heart of Stockholm is filled with myths, mysteries, and true stories that sound like they belong in a fantasy series. On this tour, hear about noblemen, dukes, and princesses who once walked these same streets, and uncover dramatic events such as the Stockholm Bloodbath. Discover hidden details like the cannonball lodged in a house façade, and learn the legend of Saint George and the Dragon. With every step, the Old Town reveals centuries of history, making this journey feel like stepping into a time machine.

Swedish_FikaExperience one of Sweden’s most beloved traditions: fika. More than just a coffee break, fika is a cherished social ritual that brings people together over coffee, cakes, and pastries. This tour invites you to taste your way through Stockholm while learning the history and culture behind this Swedish art of slowing down and enjoying life’s sweet moments. Visit cozy cafés, award-winning bakeries, and stylish pastry shops filled with atmosphere and character. Sample a variety of mouthwatering treats that are as beautiful as they are delicious, all while uncovering the stories that make fika such an essential part of Swedish life.

Overnight-train-window-viewIn the evening, it is time to board the overnight train from Stockholm to Kiruna, deep in the heart of Swedish Lapland. Traveling by sleeper train is an experience in itself: sustainable, comfortable, and a perfect way to maximize your time. While the train carries you north overnight, you save on accommodation and wake up surrounded by the Arctic landscape. Upon arrival in Kiruna the following morning, a driver will be waiting at the station to take you to your accommodation. As check-in is usually later in the day, you can leave your luggage at the hotel and head out to start exploring the magical Lapland right away.

Ice-hotel-kirunaA visit to the world-famous Icehotel in Kiruna is a truly unique experience. Built entirely of snow and ice, the hotel features stunning hand-carved suites, an ice bar, and even an ice chapel. Each winter it is redesigned by artists from around the world, making every visit special. Whether you choose to stay overnight in an ice room or just explore the shimmering sculptures by day, the Icehotel offers an unforgettable glimpse into the magic of Swedish Lapland.

abisko-northern-lights-picnicWe’ll pick you up in Kiruna and chase the Northern Lights to the best viewing spots, whether in Abisko or the surrounding forests. Our expert guides track the weather to find clear skies, share stories of Lapland and the Sami people, and help you spot local wildlife. At our destination, we’ll enjoy a campfire with warm drinks and snacks while watching the Aurora. A professional photographer will capture photos of you under the lights, which you’ll receive for free after the tour.

Husky-safari-laplandToday you will visit a husky farm and do a husky safari. Two participants share one sled and take turns steering and sitting. For your and our huskies’ safety, the guide will give detailed instructions before heading off into nature. We’ll then glide across frozen lakes, through quiet forests, and over wide snowy marshlands, led by a team of eager huskies. Along the way, keep an eye out for local wildlife. You might spot reindeer, moose, arctic hares, or even “Ripa,” the ptarmigan, Kiruna’s official bird. Don’t forget your camera! This adventure offers plenty of unforgettable photo moments!

Lapland-Reindeer-safariJoin us in Jukkasjärvi to experience the traditional Sámi lifestyle and the art of reindeer sledding. Ride through snowy forests by snowmobile and sledge to our herd, where you can help feed, train, and even race reindeer on a 200-meter track – a beloved local sport. Afterwards, warm up inside a cozy lávvu tent, enjoy traditional Sámi food, and share stories with your guide before returning by snowmobile.

Time to say goodbye and end your Sweden Winter Tour. Your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport for your departing flight.
