Arctic Adventure Package
This Arctic Adventure is perfect for anyone who’s interested in exploring the beautiful nature of Lapland and is a true adventure-seeker. During the trip you will do a 4 – day ski expedition through Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. After the ski expedition you will return back to Rovaniemi for 2 nights to rest before continuing your Arctic Adventure with a 2 – day husky safari in the Riisitunturi National Park. A good physical conditions is required to participate.
The itinerary was created by a local expert to give you the best chance to explore the Arctic wilderness. It is ready to be customised to suit your budget, interests and tastes so you can make the most out of your trip on your own terms and departing whenever you choose. This Arctic Adventure is available from March to April.

Arctic Adventure Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Rovaniemi!
On your arrival at the airport a driver will wait for you in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name on it and will drive you to your accommodation. The journey takes about 10 minutes.
Arriving early in Rovaniemi for your Arctic Adventure, you can get a head start on exploring the Arktikum Museum, stroll through the snowy landscapes of the city, and immerse yourself in the festive spirit before your adventure begins. If you’d like to add any additional tours or activities to your Arctic Adventure package, please let us know.
Day 2: Ski Expedition (16km) Day 1

Day 3: Ski Expedition (16-18km) Day 2
Before continuing your Arctic adventure, a hot breakfast will be served in the hut. Today you will do a 16-18km (6h) hike with a nice break halfway to enjoy some typical Finnish snacks around an open fire. After a day of hiking a nice surprise is waiting for you in the evening – a sauna, right in the middle of the national park, surrounded by pristine Lappish wilderness. This is a perfect opportunity to relax your body and muscles and try out a true Finnish experience.

Day 4: Ski Expedition (13-15km) Day 3
It’s time for your third day of hiking. Today you can choose between two roues, depending on your conditions and the weather. You can decide with your guide to hike to the top of the fells or to follow the winter ski trail in the valley. After the hike a warm wilderness hut, located between two fells, is waiting for you. Hang in there, the first part of your Arctic adventure is almost done.
Day 5: Ski Expedition (10km) Day 4
Almost there! Before reaching Pallas ski resort, which is where the first part of your Arctic adventure ends, you will do a 10km hike along the fells. The hike will take you to different viewpoints where you can admire the beautiful Lappish wilderness. Before returning back to Rovaniemi, a nice lunch will be served. The first part of your Arctic Adventure is now done and it’s time to take a break before the second part of your adventure starts.
Day 6: Free Day
Today it’s time to relax and take it easy. Rest up before the second part of your Arctic adventure. Of course if you wish to do something, there are plenty of other activities you could do on that day. For example you could visit Santa Claus in his village office. There you’ll finally get to meet Santa Claus and visit the Official Santa’s Post Office where you can write and send letters to friends and family. You can also receive your certificate of crossing the arctic circle there and of course you will have plenty of options for souvenir shopping, there are a lot of shops there. As visiting Santa’s village is free and it’s very crowded there during winter months we don’t offer this as a tour but we suggest you visit this on your own.
Day 7: Husky Safari (35km) Day 1
Today it’s time to start with the second part of your Arctic Adventure. Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Rovaniemi and take you to Riisitunturi National Park. It’s one of the most famous and picturesque nature areas in Finland, offering postcard-like scenery. Once you arrive in the husky kennel, you will be introduced to the mushers and their dogs. Each participant will have their own dog team and sleigh (you may also be 2 participants per sleigh if you feel more comfortable). Glide through the snowfields of Lapland on a husky-pulled sleigh before stopping for a lunch snack around the open fire. The night will be spent in a wilderness cabin with no running water or electricity. If you wish you can help the mushers take care of the dogs before enjoying a relaxing sauna and dinner. If you’re lucky you might see the northern lights.
Day 8: Husky Safari (30km) Day 2
Time to continue the Arctic adventure and ride across Riisitunturi national park for another 30km husky safari. The the most of the Arctic nature and pure atmosphere. Halfway, a nice lunch will be served, so you and the dogs can get some rest. At the end of the trip, you have all the reasons to be proud of yourself. You are now a real musher and have driven your own team of husky dogs through the Arctic wilderness. Time to say goodbye to the dogs and the musher and head back to Rovaniemi.
Day 9: Farewell!
Today it’s time to say goodbye and end your Arctic Adventure. Your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport for your departing flight.
IMPORTANT:
- The maximum capacity is 6-7 people, making our trips sustainable and letting you enjoy Lapland in a more authentic and respectful way. There’s a minimum amount of people required for this trip to take place.
- This trip requires good physical conditions.
- The trip is operated in wild nature conditions. Private accommodation is booked for the whole group but the wooden cabins are not equipped with electricity and water (dry toilets). Drinking water comes from nature. Your guide will prepare common trekking meals during the trip.
- Please arrive prepared with suitable clothing for cold weather and fast changing weather conditions. Personal sleeping bags, mattresses etc are provided in each wilderness hut. All personal belongings should fit into 40 liter backpack.
Transportation by minivan. One luggage and handbag per person allowed.
