Highlights

Lapland Winter Holiday Itinerary

Lapland Winter Holiday On your arrival at the airport a driver will wait for you in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name on it and will drive you to your accommodation. The journey takes about 10 minutes.

If you arrive early, take a leisurely stroll along the snowy streets and visit the Rovaniemi Art Museum or the Arktikum, which offers fascinating exhibits on Arctic life and history.  If you’d like to add any additional tours or activities to your Lapland Winter Holiday package, please let us know.

Lapland Winter HolidayYour day will start with a visit to an authentic reindeer farm. We have carefully chosen one of the most traditional reindeer farms where you will meet the reindeer herder family. You will explore everyday life in the farm, get to feed the reindeer and hear some great stories and facts about reindeer herding in Lapland and how it is an integral part of the nature and culture in Northern Finland. You can also do a short reindeer sleigh safari. Herder will also be happy to answer your questions around a warming open fire where a delicious home-made salmon soup will be served with hot drinks (vegan option possible on request), and pancakes cooked over the open fire.

Lapland Winter HolidayAfter that you will continue with a drive to the Husky farm where you get to meet the photogenic dogs. Huskies are born to run, and they are happy to take you on a little safari. After a safety briefing, you can glide through the snowfields of Lapland on a husky-pulled sleigh! Just sit back and snap some excellent photos. After the safari, you can spend some time with the dogs: they love cuddles and photos! This is a premium experience with visits of two authentic family-sized places, not crowded touristic places. Duration of the reindeer and husky tour is about 5 hours.

Lapland Winter HolidayA lot of people travel to Finland to see northern lights and in the evening it’s time for the best Rovaniemi northern lights tour. Remember that the Northern Lights are wily and unpredictable, but this tour will give you the best possible chance to see them. Your professional guide will determine where the highest possible chance for aurora sightings is. You will visit a few different locations unless your guide knows for sure that Northern lights will appear on a certain location, then you’ll go there. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the show. Duration of the northern lights tour is about 4-6 hours, depending on conditions.
Included Meals: Breakfast, lunch

Lapland Winter HolidayToday you will visit the beautiful Korouoma Canyon and get to the best spots to admire the frozen waterfalls. The protected reserve offers beautiful nature, picturesque snowy landscapes and …fun. Sometimes the best way of going down is by sledding down the little slopes created by the path. It’s your chance to try it out. Your guide will also tell you about the arctic nature, teach you some survival tips, and offer you all their passion for Lapland. Your guide will prepare an open fire and you will enjoy a delicious Finnish barbecue lunch. Duration of the tour is 7 hours.

Lapland Winter HolidayFree time: We know that one of the highlights of Rovaniemi is visiting Santa Claus in his village office. Today you will have a chance to travel to the official village of Santa Claus on your own. There you’ll finally get to meet Santa Claus and visit the Official Santa’s Post Office where you can write and send letters to friends and family. You can also receive your certificate of crossing the arctic circle there and of course you will have plenty of options for souvenir shopping, there are a lot of shops there. As visiting Santa’s village is free and it’s very crowded there during winter months we don’t offer this as a tour but we suggest you visit this on your own

Lapland Winter Holiday

It’s time for a full snowshoeing adventure into the arctic wilderness. Your outdoor guide will teach you how to orientate in the wilderness, survive, and take advantage of your surroundings. Because one cannot survive without food, you will also drill a hole in the frozen lake and try ice-fishing. If you catch a fish, your guide will show you how to prepare it and grill it over the fire. Don’t worry if you are not a confident ice-fisher as a delicious Finnish barbecue snack will be prepared by your guide.  Duration of the tour is 4 hours.

Lapland Winter Holiday in Rovaniemi

Rovaniemi is an exceptional choice for a Lapland winter holiday, offering an unparalleled blend of festive magic, thrilling adventures, and stunning Arctic beauty. As the official hometown of Santa Claus, Rovaniemi brings the holiday spirit to life with attractions like Santa Claus Village, where you can meet Santa himself, cross the Arctic Circle, and immerse yourself in a winter wonderland filled with twinkling lights and holiday cheer.

Beyond the festive charm, Rovaniemi serves as a perfect base for a range of exhilarating winter activities. The surrounding landscape offers opportunities for husky sledding, where you can glide through snow-covered forests, and reindeer rides that provide a taste of traditional Arctic transportation. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are also popular, allowing you to explore the serene, snow-blanketed wilderness at your own pace.

One of the most unforgettable experiences Rovaniemi has to offer is Northern Lights hunting. With its location just below the Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi provides excellent opportunities to witness the auroras in their full splendor. Venture out on a guided tour or simply find a dark, open spot outside the city to watch the sky light up with vibrant colors. The combination of clear, dark skies and minimal light pollution makes Rovaniemi a prime location for witnessing this breathtaking natural phenomenon, adding an extra layer of magic to your winter adventure.
