Private Baltic Tours: Estonia, Latvia & Lithuania
Baltic Tours Planned by a Local Expert
A Baltic tour takes you through Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania: three small countries on the Baltic Sea with three UNESCO-listed Old Towns in their capitals, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius. Between the cities you will find castles, baroque palaces, national parks, bogs, sandy beaches and islands, and food and traditions that are very different from Western Europe.
Our Baltic tour packages last from 7 to 16 days and start from €950 per person, excluding international flights. Every itinerary is planned by our team in Estonia: our founder, Moonika Apart, has organized Baltic tours since 2017 and has traveled every route herself, many times. Every tour is private, with your own driver and local guides, and there are no fixed departure dates. You choose when to travel, the direction, the hotel level and the pace.

Which Baltic Tour Is Right for You?
Your First Trip to the Baltics
The 10-day Classic Baltic Tour is the best introduction. Between the capitals you visit Trakai Island Castle, the Hill of Crosses, Rundāle Palace, the old town of Kuldīga and Gauja National Park, and you finish with a bogshoe hike in an Estonian bog. If you prefer more free time in the cities, choose the Baltic Capitals Tour.
Baltic Tours on a Budget
The Baltic Capitals Tour starts from €950 per person for 10 days, with hotels from cozy B&Bs to 5-star. You travel between Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn by comfortable intercity coach, join a private guided tour in each capital and use the free days for the day trips that interest you most.
Nature and Active Holidays
Much of the Baltics is forest, bog, lakes and coast. From May to September, the Active Baltic Adventure combines the three capitals with SUP around Trakai Castle, fatbiking in Aukštaitija, cycling to Jūrmala, hiking in Gauja National Park and canoeing in the Emajõe-Suursoo wetlands. For ideas, read our guides to the national parks of Latvia and Estonia.
Christmas Markets
From late November, the Old Towns of Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn fill with Christmas markets, mulled wine and lights. The 8-day Baltic Christmas Markets Tour visits all three, with a craft workshop and ice skating in Trakai on the way. Read our guide to the Baltic Christmas markets.
A Relaxed Trip at Your Own Pace
Many of our Baltic guests are couples and mature travelers who want to see a lot without rushing. With your own driver and private guides, there are no early group departures and no waiting for others: we can add a free day, plan shorter driving days or choose hotels close to the Old Towns. Traveling with children? We can adapt any itinerary for a family.
A Longer Trip With the Coast and Islands
With two weeks or more, you can see the Baltics beyond the capitals. The 16-day Complete Baltic Holiday runs from May to September and adds the dunes of the Curonian Spit, the Latvian seaside, Kihnu Island in Estonia and a ferry to Helsinki.
How Our Private Baltic Tours Work
Every MonMon Baltic tour is private. You never join a coach group, and you travel on your own dates. This is how it works:
- Your dates, your direction: there are no fixed departures, and every itinerary works from Vilnius to Tallinn or the other way around. We plan the trip around your flights.
- Your own driver: airport transfers and private transfers between destinations are just for you.
- Private tours and day trips: every city tour and day trip is private, with an English-speaking guide.
- A local guide in every city: instead of one guide for the whole week, you meet a different local guide in each city. We like to support local guides in each country, and you hear each place's story from someone who lives there.
- Public transport where it makes sense: some itineraries use a comfortable intercity coach, train or ferry between cities, with your seats reserved.
- Tailor-made: add nights, choose 3, 4 or 5-star hotels, swap day trips or add Helsinki. Every itinerary on this page is a starting point.
- Support during your trip: our local team is available 24/7 while you travel.
How Many Days Do You Need for a Baltic Tour?
- 7 days: enough for one country in depth, or the three capitals at a fast pace.
- 10 days: the classic length. Two to three nights in each capital plus day trips to Trakai, the Hill of Crosses, Rundāle Palace or Gauja National Park.
- 14–16 days: time for the Lithuanian coast and the Curonian Spit, Estonian islands, the countryside and a ferry to Helsinki.
Each drive between the capitals takes about four to five hours, and most tours include sightseeing stops along the way. See our 10-day Baltic itinerary for Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius for a day-by-day idea.
Best Time for a Baltic Tour
- May–June: long, light days, fresh green nature and fewer crowds. May is one of the best months to travel.
- July–August: the warmest months, with beaches, islands and summer festivals. Also the busiest season.
- September–October: autumn colors, foraging season, quieter cities and lower hotel prices, but more rain.
- Late November–December: short, dark days brightened by the Christmas markets in all three capitals.
- January–March: cold and often snowy, with winter activities and very few tourists.

Our founder's tip: Moonika's favorite Baltic town is Kuldīga in western Latvia, a small, UNESCO-listed old town by the Venta Rapid, often called the widest waterfall in Europe, that many visitors never reach. She also recommends Kihnu Island in Estonia and a traditional smoke sauna experience at Mooska farm in southern Estonia. Ask us to add them to your trip.
Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius: What Each Capital Offers
Tallinn, Estonia
One of the best-preserved medieval Old Towns in Europe, with city walls, towers and the views from Toompea hill. Beyond the Old Town, explore the Telliskivi creative district and Kadriorg Park. Helsinki is about two hours away by ferry. Read our Estonia travel guide.
Riga, Latvia
The largest of the three capitals, famous for its Art Nouveau architecture, its Old Town and the huge Central Market. Jūrmala beach and Gauja National Park are easy trips from the city. Read our Latvia travel guide.
Vilnius, Lithuania
A green, relaxed capital with a large Baroque Old Town, the artists' district of Užupis and Trakai Island Castle less than an hour away. Many of our itineraries start here, and all of them also work in reverse. Read our Lithuania travel guide.

How Much Does a Baltic Tour Cost?
Our Baltic tours start from €950 per person for the 10-day Baltic Capitals Tour in 3-star hotels. A 10-day tour with guided day trips costs from €1,675, and the 16-day Complete Baltic Holiday starts from €3,250. International flights are extra.
What changes the price most:
- The hotel level: the same itinerary is available with 3, 4 or 5-star hotels.
- The travel month: summer and the Christmas season are the busiest times.
- The length of the trip and the number of guided day trips and private transfers.
Compared with Western Europe, the Baltics offer very good value for hotels, food and guided experiences.
Getting to the Baltics From the US
Most travelers from the US fly to the Baltics with one connection through a European hub such as Helsinki, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Stockholm or Warsaw. Every itinerary works in either direction, so you can fly into Vilnius and home from Tallinn, or the other way around.
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are in the EU and the Schengen Area, and all three use the euro. US citizens do not need a visa for short stays in the Schengen Area, but entry rules for the EU are changing, so please check the latest requirements for your passport before you travel. If you plan to start in Helsinki, see our Helsinki and Rovaniemi Holiday for ideas.
Extend Your Trip: Helsinki, Stockholm and Lapland
Tallinn is about two hours by ferry from Helsinki, so it is easy to combine the Baltics with Finland, Sweden or a winter stay in Lapland.
